Well, I thought I would put up a section for Weight Loss Stories. Today marks Jackie’s one week since here weight loss surgery( its actually a week and one day, but the first day does not really count since she just had surgery and was mostly sedated). Here is here weight loss story so far. Todate she is doing great. She has been able to get up and move around. We even went to the gym one night and she walked on the tread mill for a few minutes. She was sore the first few days, but now she says it just a little uncomfortable at times. The swelling is going down and her scars are healing nicely. She has not expierenced any nausa or other symtoms some people report feeling and she has lost 9 pounds already. Not bad for the first week. I’m short on time at the moment, but will report more on her weight loss story later on

Well Jackie had her weight loss surgery at Vista Surgical Center in Baton Rouge LA on Feburary 14th. She has the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy procedure and is doing great. She is moving around fine and has been able to eat some. We highly recommend this weight loss surgery center as the staff where great and very repsonsive to her every need.

The nurses are trained in Bariatric surgery as that is the main procedure performed at this hospital and they understand exactly what each patient needs. They checked on her at least every 30 minutes the first day and was in the room within minutes when she called for help. We were able to make the 8 hours drive back to Atlanta the day after her surgery and she only got sore a couple of times during the trip. I wanted to cut the trip in half, but Jackie wanted to spend the night in her house so we drove all the way back.

We have some great pictures of the surgery center and I’ll be posting these as soon as I get them transferred to digital form. Not only was the patient care great the cost was also great. We wound up paying 11,900 dollars for the entire procedure including the weight loss surgeon’s fee. This was about 5K less than what we would have paid in Atlanta and its not much more than we would have paid if we had went to Mexico to have weight loss surgery. I pesonally do not mind paying another 900 dollars to have the vertical sleeve surgery in the states. This is nothing against the surgeons in Mexico, but I perfer to have this sort of thing under the laws of the United States.

More to come later.
